As you all know, I’m a homer and always will be a homer, but bottom line for the OL most of the year is that they were beat up. While no one wants to hear that, it’s the truth. Going into the Texas game, we were coming off of a performance in the KU game which was lackluster at best. Everybody was praying that Ealy and Swenson would be able to play, and they did and played well.
In my opinion, we don’t know how good Swenson can be because he played with a jacked up shoulder all year that had no power in his arm. Trying to play ol with one arm is difficult to say the least.
If one of these youngn’s is really that good, it wouldn’t shock me at all to see Raym or Ndoma-Ogar play center and have Creed bump to a guard. Hopefully the competition is fierce at LT, and ultimately Wilkins wins out. If he’s as good as everyone says he is, then he should win that. Personally I think that Swenson could be better at guard than he is at tackle.
I too wasn’t impressed with Brey Walker. In laymans terms he looks like Tarzan, plays like Jane. Granted he’s a freshman, but he looked lost in what time he did play. Unless he took a quantum leap in between the ears, i’m not buying it. Don’t believe the hype.
If I had to guess, I’d say.
LG Creed Humphrey (Put him right in between a new tackle and new center)
C Raym or Ndoma-Ogar
RG Tyrese Robinson (Bedenbaugh trusted him enough to bump him out and play tackle against KU. I bet he steps up)
The wildcard here is Marquis Hayes. He’s a damn good player who reminds me a lot of Duke Robinson. A beast but undisciplined. If he gets his act together look out.
