The Sooners picked up Theo Howard, who is a grad transfer from UCLA. He is enrolled and will be on campus for spring ball.
He started out at UCLA and was extremely productive there. He's a legitimate 4.3 guy who is cut of the same cloth as a DeDe Westbrook, Jeff Badet and Hollwood Brown.
The Sooners most likely will play him in the slot in that speed receiver spot like they did the aforementioned guys. He's about identical physically to DeDe Westbrook at 6'0" and 180 pounds.
He's going to add that much needed speed element that the Sooners missed having this last season.
He's got more shakes than a Hollywood, and probably a little more straight line speed than what Westbrook had.
What he'll have that Brown and Westbrook didn't have will be big outside receivers in Theo Wease & Jadon Haselwood drawing attention away from him. Add Trejan Bridges in there when he comes back from suspension along with Austin Stogner, and Spencer Rattler has a treasure chest full of cool toys to play with.
With the Sooners returning 4 1/2 starters on the offensive line, along with Sermon and Brooks in the backfield, this offense could be on the level of that 2017 offense or even better.
Getting Howard in the fold in my opinion is one of the biggest additions this team will have had. He is an immediate upgrade at punt returner and kickoff return, and he can take it the distance any time he touches the ball.
I can't wait to get down there and check out the spring game and see what this offense looks like now!
Oh yeah, here's a link to his hs highlights if anyone wants to check him out.
